Over the past few weeks, mijnracket.nl has received several questions about how to string the Yonex VCORE Duel G series , Stan Wawrinka's new line. Read more...
The stringing tips below apply to the Yonex VCORE Duel G 97 330 , the VCORE Duel G 97 310 grams , the VCORE Duel G 100 (300 or 280 grams) and the VCORE Duel G 97 Alpha of 290 or 270 grams. The above rackets all have a 16/20 stringing pattern, where you start stringing at the top with the length strings. The rackets have shared holes at hole 7 and 8 in the top of the blade and at hole 8 at the bottom of the blade. Both the length and cross strings go through here! Strung with 2 knots Strung in 1 go (2 knots) is possible and is fairly self-explanatory. With the length strings: you do not skip any holes at the top or bottom of the blade. You end with the length strings at the top again. When strung with 2 knots, tie off at the top at hole 6 and at the bottom at hole 9. Strung with 4 knots Strung with 4 knots, such as with a hybrid (different length and width strings) and/or with different kg of length and width strings, requires a little more explanation. A STARTING CLAMP IS REQUIRED FOR THIS! See the instructions below from ERSA, the European Racquet Stringers Association:
For stringing with 4 knots, do the same with the length strings as for stringing with two knots. You now tie off both length strings at hole 6 in the top of the blade. Because the knot for the cross strings must be made at hole 9, a starting clamp is a must. Start the cross strings at the 7th hole, this is a shared hole. Thread the first cross string. Secure this with a starting clamp on the outside of the frame. The next cross string goes through the 8th hole, which is also shared. Continue threading all the cross strings. The 8th hole from the bottom is for the last cross string. This is also a shared hole. Tying off at the bottom is done at hole 9. Then go back to the 1st cross string, pull it tight and remove the starting clamp. Secure the string and then tie off this first length string at hole 9. And you're done! If you find it annoying to leave the starting clamp in place when threading all the cross strings, you can also tie the knot after a cross string or 4/5. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Y91bSQm2lm8 Above everything also in a handy video! NB: Yonex always advises to string the cross strings from top to bottom (from the top of the blade to the heart of the racket). This is better for the pressure distribution that comes on the frame during stringing. With these rackets it is not possible otherwise, but this is an important general tip!
