Fan of polyester strings, but not always of their stiff feel? Good news: the well-known Solinco Tour Bite now comes in a soft, more comfortable version! This is the Solinco Tour Bite Soft.
Brand: Solinco String: Tour Bite Soft Thickness: 17 (1.20 mm), 16L (1.25 mm) or 16 (1.30 mm) Type: Soft co-polye star string The Solinco Tour Bite Soft is the softer version of the Solinco Tour Bite, which was voted best polyester string of the year 2011, 2012 and 2013. This naturally creates the necessary expectations for this softer, more comfortable version of the well-known Solinco string.
Where the regular Tour Bite excels is in grip on the ball and predictability/control. The Solinco Tour Bite is a string where you have to put the energy into your stroke yourself, the string contributes little to this. An ideal string for big hitters, who after all have enough power themselves. The Solinco Tour Bite Soft clearly serves a different group of players. The string has the same square string shape with sharp edges for extra grip on the ball for fine topspin and slices, but feels clearly more elastic and lively compared to the regular Tour Bite. The string also offers clearly more power and is also quite comfortable for the arm. A serious option for players who generate less power themselves, but who appreciate the more direct ball/string contact of a polyester string. The string is available in 3 thicknesses: 17 (1.20), 16L (1.25) and 16 (1.30). The 17 version is the most comfortable but feels a bit 'bouncy'. The 16L and 16 thicknesses offer a finer mix of power, control and comfort, with the 16 thickness being the most wear-resistant version of the Solinco Tour Bite Soft. As with almost all polyester strings, the strings of the Solinco Tour Bite Soft slide neatly back into place after ball contact, which prevents a lot of sliding of the string (and often irritation). What is noticeable is that the string loses its tension a bit faster.
All in all, the Solinco Tour Bite Soft is a very comfortable polyester string that excels in spin, razor-sharp slices and a nice ball feel. The only disadvantage is the somewhat faster tension loss of the string.
