Baseline:
From the first ball contact this racket felt much more comfortable than the RA of 73 suggests. The Ultra 100 V3.0 is a fairly stiff racket, which also provides the explosive (free) power. However, and fortunately, the racket does not feel that stiff at all. It quickly became clear to me that the racket contains quite a lot of power. Unconsciously I started to grip my forehand a bit deeper, to give the balls some extra rotation. This is also necessary to be able to control the power of this racket. This new Ultra 100 offers a lot of playing ease from the baseline: you do not need a huge swing to easily get depth in your strokes. The comfort was noticed in a positive way, so to speak. The previous version with Countervail felt a bit tinny, especially with off-center hits. With this new version the sweet spot feels a bit more generous and forgiving. In terms of comfort, the Ultra 100 has definitely improved.
Service:
You also get a lot of service power as a gift with the Wilson Ultra 100 V3.0! The racket serves very easily, but a little less controlled. After a short adjustment period I used a little more kick and slice to keep a little more margin in my strokes. With my current Diadem Elevate 98 (is in line with the Wilson Blade 98 16x19 V7.0 ) I don't have to worry as much about overheating. But that is a matter of getting used to it. For me personally a little too much power, just like from the baseline, but that can be very welcome for another player.
Just:
The racket is agile, but above all stable enough at the net. The sweet spot is quite generous, which you can definitely take advantage of. The very fine ingenious touch like with a Blade 98 is missing, but that is of course also a completely different mold/frame.
Power/control:
It is without a doubt power over control with this 3.0 version of the Ultra 100. The Clash 100 also gives you quite a bit of 'free power', but the Ultra 100 goes a step further. The Ultra is also the most powerful racket line from Wilson. Personally, I missed a bit of control, but then again, I have a different racket preference. I did find the stability to be definitely improved. But it is clearly power over control with this racket. With that, I would say that this Ultra 100 can also work well for someone with an average to slightly more compact swing. I had this racket strung at 23/22 kg with the Flash 17 from Diadem. In retrospect, I would say that the kilos could have been increased a bit for a bit of additional control.Comfort/arm friendliness Wilson Ultra 100 V3.0
I actually find the comfort surprisingly good for a racket of this stiffness. Due to the improved stability, the frame twists less, which gives less vibrations to the arm. In addition, the sweet spot is quite generous for a 100 sq/inch head. The improved comfort has surprised me positively!
