Feliciano Lopez and Victoria Azarenka are the players who will promote the new Wilson Ultra racket line. The Ultra racket line is the successor to the Juice series and is made for the so-called All Courter, the player who operates both from the baseline and at the net. This line is therefore made to serve a wide range of players. The Wilson Ultra line combines power with comfort and contains the following technical features: high performance carbon fiber for stiffer shafts and therefore more power, Cushion Foam in the handle for extra vibration dampening and Parallel Drilling for a larger sweet spot. All Wilson Ultra models can also be used with the Sony Smart Sensor .
The Wilson Ultra 97 offers a good mix between classic feel and control on the one hand and power and spin on the other. The 97 sq/inch blade size and the slightly narrower frame construction provide control, where the high performance carbon fiber and the fairly open 16/19 string pattern provide power and spin. The racket is easy to maneuver, partly due to the 31.5 cm headlight balance.
In terms of play, the Wilson Ultra 97 is a racket that is easy to maneuver and swing. The racket has a fairly small sweet spot: if you hit the ball neatly in this sweet spot, you get a huge dose of power in return. Outside the sweet spot, the Wilson Ultra 97 is clearly less forgiving. Balls outside this ideal hitting zone die a bit faster. In terms of frame construction, the racket is more like the rounder housing of, for example, the power-oriented Babolat Pure Drive than, for example, the flatter, box-beam-like construction of the Wilson Pro Staff series. The latter offers more feel and control. The Wilson Ultra 97 offers a good damping feel for a racket with a 97 sq/inch head size. The mix of a slightly lower RA value (stiffness) of 64 compared to rackets with a comparable frame construction and the Cushion Foam technology in the handle ensure this. Just like the Juice racket family, the new Ultra racket line also remains a more power oriented line, although this Wilson Ultra 97 offers the best mix of power and control within this line.
