As is known from Yonex, the new Percept rackets are packed with more than enough technical gadgets. Servo Filter provides 'selective vibration damping'. This film layer is placed between the graphite layers and provides more flex at ball impact and filters unwanted vibrations, 13% more than rackets without Servo Filter. All this provides more ball feel and finer control over the ball. 2G-Namd Flex Force together with this filter around the heart of the racket also provides more 'ball pocketing' which benefits spin and control. Finally, the blade of the PERCEPT rackets themselves is slightly stiffened for 3% more blade stability. This provides a bit of additional power.

The 310 gram Percept 97 (there is also a heavier 'H' version of 330 grams, as well as a 'D' version of 320 grams with 18x20 string pattern) plays like a charm from the baseline. The racket is fast, precise and has excellent spin potential due to the special flex. Compared to the Percept 100D, this 97 offers slightly less power, but you do get extra control in return. This is due to the smaller blade, the slimmer frame, but also due to the lower RA/stiffness. The racket also has a refined touch, which is clearly noticeable with slice backhands, for example. At the net, the racket is very manoeuvrable and solid with a lot of ingenuity for balls based on feeling. In terms of service, you will have to bring some power yourself, but if you do, the racket will provide additional control and rotation. All in all, the Percept 97 is a more than excellent update of the VCORE Pro 97 310!
