Finally some news from the Babolat front and what news! The successor to Nadal's weapon, the Aeropro Drive, is coming: the Pure Aero!
This 'best spinning machine ever' if we are to believe Babolat, sticks to the specs of its illustrious predecessor, the Aeropro Drive. This means: 100 sq/inch, 300 grams, 32.0 balance and a 16/19 string pattern. However, the Babolat Pure Aero 2016, as the racket is called in full, does offer something new:
- The Aeromodular2 new frame construction ensures even less air resistance and therefore faster swings
- The well-known Woofer technology (where the strings do not lie flat in the frame but on curves, making it easy to grab the ball in the strings) and the Cortex technology (built-in damping system that runs from the shaft of the racket to the bottom of the grip) are now placed in the frame itself and no longer externally
- FSI SPIN provides a larger sweet spot by redistributing the string bed and more interaction between frame and string. The effect is more ball rotation due to the extra grip on the ball, so more spin
- The new and wider tubings at 6 and 12 o'clock in the racket also contribute to more freedom of movement of the string and therefore more spin and more 'forgiveness', which provides a larger ideal hitting zone
In addition to a Team and Lite version (285 and 270 grams respectively), there will now also be a Tour version of 315 grams of the Babolat Pure Aero. There will also be a PLAY version of this racket again. The first reports are that there will be an early introduction of the Babolat Pure Aero racket line in August or September of this year.
