Very cool news from Luxilon this week! On the occasion of the 20th anniversary of Gustavo Kuerten's first victory at Roland Garros, Luxilon comes with the Alu Power 125 purple 20th anniversary edition!
The Belgian string giant recently expanded its product range with a premium Natural Gut string, Elite Dry overgrips and dampers. We will also report on these in the coming month. However, this year marks 20 years since Gustavo Kuerten put Luxilon on the map as a string brand with his first Roland Garros victory. In 2000 and 2001, he won two more in Paris. 'Guga' also won the 'Tennis Masters Cup' in 2000, the predecessor of the current ATP World Tour Finals. That year he also finished as number 1 in the world.
Kuerten has been a true pioneer for Luxilon and has put the string brand on the map. The Brazilian first played with the Big Banger Original 1.30, after which he later switched to the Alu Power 1.25. Today, the majority of professionals play with Luxilon strings. Now Luxilon is releasing the Alu Power 125 in a striking purple 20th anniversary color scheme. The striking color is a reference to and a tribute to the flamboyant Guga. On the front of the packaging we see Kuerten after one of his victories at Roland Garros.
