Launched in 1996 as the Prince Extender Mach 1000 OS, this Prince masterpiece was a racket that raised more than a few eyebrows. Its colossal 124 sq/inch (!) head, extra-long 2-inch frame, Extender head (shaped like an upside-down teardrop) and, perhaps most notably, Mono shaft made it a real eye-catcher.
The 1000 stands for Power Level 1000, the highest power level ever for a Prince racket at the time. Weighing 247 grams, with its balance point well toward the head to maintain swingweight, this racket was marketed to players with a short, compact swing. Fun fact: Prince has brought these power levels back for its current collection—apparently, they’re still a good, clear way to help players choose the right racket.
