Wilson Clash 2019!

In February 2019, Wilson will introduce a completely new racket family: the Clash. Mijnracket.nl player Mike is one of the lucky ones to be the first to test the Wilson Clash 2019. Here's a sneak peek: these rackets can rightly be called revolutionary!
The Wilson Clash 100 and Clash 100 Tour are now available in our webshop including free stringing of your choice!

Wilson Clash Prototype

February 15, 2019 the Wilson Clash series will be released! Little is known about the specs, but I have the privilege to test the prototype 'dazzle' version of this new racket. This version, just like with new releases in the automotive industry, must 'conceal' the technology and specifications. February 1, 2019 the final layout of these rackets (as well as the specifications) will be announced.

Power vs Control: The Classic Struggle

Traditionally, we have known no different in the world of tennis rackets: when choosing a tennis racket, you either choose power or control. If you go for power, you almost automatically end up with a stiff racket. The stiffer the frame, the more directly the balls come off your blade. Logically, you then lose a lot on control. Due to this high stiffness, these rackets can be quite tough on the arm, especially with off-center hits. If you choose control and feel, you usually choose a racket with a lower RA value, for ultimate connection with the ball, longer dwell time and optimal control and steering. But then you get a low-powered racket in your hands.
I know it's quite a statement, but after my first 5 hours of play with this Wilson Clash I dare say that the Clash combines the power of a classic power racket like the Babolat Pure Drive 2018 with the comfort and touch of a thorough control racket like the Prince Textreme Phantom 100 . The first has an RA value of 71, the second 56. WOW! A very extensive test report will follow in January 2019.

Specifications Wilson Clash

The first thing that stands out about this prototype is the peculiar shape of the heart of the racket. In addition, the frame has a relatively wide profile, as you normally see with a Wilson Ultra 100 CV for example.
There is still very little known about the specifications of the new Wilson Clash rackets, but I have measured this racket on our new Head 3-in-1 machine. This allows us to measure weight, balance and swingweight. Only the RA value cannot be measured with this, but from what we understand, it is around 55! Here is an overview of the specifications of this prototype of the Wilson Clash: Brand: Wilson Model: Clash 'Prototype' Blade size: 100 sq/inch Weight: 295 gr Balance: 31.0 cm Stringing pattern: 16x19 Length: 27 inch RA: 55 Beam: approx. 25 mm The above specifications are not necessarily the final specifications. These are the specs as measured on this prototype. In addition, several Clash models will be released with different specs. That is still useful to know!
Striking is, besides the low RA value (stiffness/flex) the low balance point. This results in a racket with a (strung) swingweight of around 300. This makes the racket very fast and 'whippy'. The comfort is insane for a racket with so much power! The same goes for the touch and connection with the ball, which also makes the spin potential more than okay. The Wilson Clash 100 and Clash 100 Tour are now available in our webshop including free stringing of your choice!
