Stringing records have been broken at almost every Grand Slam in recent years, and Wimbledon 2018 was no exception. The hot weather helped to ensure that more stringing was done than ever before.
Some highlights:
- Total strung rackets: 4503 rackets were strung by 19 stringers, an increase of over 12% compared to 2017.
- Busiest day: Monday, July 2, 2018, with 465 rackets.
- Player with the most strung rackets: Rafael Nadal, with 67 stringings.
- Stringing stations: 14 Babolat Racket Stations and 1 Babolat Sensor machine were used, previously also used at Roland Garros.
Lowest and highest voltage
- Lowest tension: Canadian doubles specialist Daniel Nestor played with a tension of 14/12 kg, a combination of Wilson Natural Gut and Luxilon Timo.
- Highest tension: German player Dustin Brown used a tension of 36/36 kg with the Luxilon Original Rough in his Babolat Pure Drive.
A total of 680 players were served: 316 men, 250 women, 58 boys, and 56 girls. Of these players, 237 used a hybrid stringing (different length and width strings).
