The Wilson Burn 100S is the showpiece of the latest Wilson racket line. Wilson has developed the Burn line for baseliners who want to dictate the game with a lot of power and spin. 3 of the 5 rackets in this new line have a more open stringing pattern, including the Burn 100S. The racket specifications at a glance:
Brand: Wilson Model: Burn 100S Head size: 100 sq/inch Weight: 303 gr Balance: 33.0 cm Stringing pattern: 18/16 Length: 27 inch RA: 73 In addition to well-known technical applications such as Parallel Drilling (enlarges the sweet spot) and Spin Effect Technology ( open stringing pattern for more grip and spin on the ball) there are two new technical applications in this racket: the X2 longer shaft is ideal for double-handed backhands and makes it easier to transfer to more extreme grip positions and high-performance carbon fiber is used around the heart of the racket provides extra stiffness and power. This racket has an RA value (stiffness) of 73. The balance is slightly more towards the top.
The Wilson Burn 100S has to compete with the Babolat Pure Aero , the successor to the Babolat Aeropro Drive and with the Head Graphene XT Extreme MP A and indeed offers what Wilson promises: spin and power! The fairly stiff frame provides this extra power, while the 18/16 stringing pattern provides more grip on the ball and a longer ball/string contact, making this power controllable due to the extra spin. So are you willing to sacrifice a little bit of comfort for a huge dose of power and spin? Then definitely check out the Wilson Burn 100S!
