Since this calendar year, 2-time Grand Slam winner Stan Wawrinka plays with a new hitting weapon, the Yonex VCORE Duel G 97 330 grams. As in our previous post was read, the VCORE Duel series is another technical masterpiece from our Japanese friends at Yonex. Here is a short summary of the technology in the Duel G series:
- Tough G Fiber is implemented in the shaft: this material provides extra flex to the racket, good for a higher 'kickback' speed (the frame returns to its original position faster) for extra spin and power
- Lock Booster System: a new tubing system on the sides of the blade that provides extra freedom of movement of the string and therefore more power and spin through new curves where the string lies over it
- The well-known Isometric (angled) blade shape provides a larger ideal hitting zone for the ball
- 3D Vector shaft provides increased stiffness in the heart of the racket for extra power and less racket head twisting
- Black Micro Core technology at 10 and 2 o'clock in the blade for more blade stability and vibration dampening
- An even narrower 20.0mm frame construction for more feel
As you would expect from a racket of this weight and caliber, you need some serious muscle to swing the Yonex VCORE Duel G 97 330. If you have enough of that yourself, the racket offers a lot of feel and control to control your own power. Compared to its predecessor, the Yonex VCORE Tour G 330 , the Duel G 97 330 offers a more direct playing feel and more feedback: you can feel more clearly when you hit the ball well and where it is going. With this racket, it is logically control over power, but that does not mean that there is no power in the Yonex VCORE Duel G 97 330. On the contrary! If you make a big, full swing with your strokes, the mass of this frame ensures enormous acceleration, while still maintaining control.
This racket also makes a solid impression at the net. You don't get free power when serving: you have to produce the blade speed yourself. The 16/20 string pattern offers sufficient spin potential but still feels compact enough to be sufficiently 'connected' to the ball for steering and placing the ball.
Most players will choose a (also control oriented) polyester string for the control aspect of this racket. Advice is to go low in the stringing range to get the best return from racket and string.
We will soon extensively test the lighter and more player-friendly 310 gram version of this Yonex VCORE Duel G 97. Keep an eye on mijnracket.nl and our Facebook page ( https://www.facebook.com/mijnracket/ ) for our test report!
