Weighing in at just 295 grams, the Babolat Jet is currently one of the lightest tennis shoes on the market!
In previous reviews we discussed shoes like the Nike Zoom Vapor 9.5 Tour , the ASICS Gel Solution Speed 3 , and the Mizuno Wave Exceed Tour . Now Babolat also joins the 'lightweight tennis violence' with the Jet . Below we compare the Babolat Jet with these other models.
Features of the Babolat Jet :
-
Matryx Upper :
The Babolat Jet features a patented Kevlar upper combined with durable polyamide zones. This provides a soft and supportive feel, but also offers extra durability on the medial side of the shoe. -
Active Flexion Technology :
The sole of the Jet is equipped with this technology, which ensures that the forces are evenly distributed over the foot. This offers maximum agility and good contact with the ground. -
Michelin S-Pattern outsole :
This sole provides excellent grip, wear resistance and contributes to the manoeuvrability of the shoe.
Weighing only 295 grams (size 42.5), the Babolat Jet is one of the lightest tennis shoes on the market.
The Babolat Jet has a medium last, but the upper of the shoe is flexible and soft, allowing the shoe to expand slightly in width. This gives the shoe a natural feel, similar to a running shoe, where the foot can move more freely than in traditional tennis shoes. However, this does mean that the lateral support is slightly less compared to shoes like the ASICS Gel Solution Speed 3 or the Mizuno Wave Exceed Tour .
This 'minimum feel' is reminiscent of the previously tested New Balance Minimus 60. That is why the Babolat Jet is especially suitable for players with somewhat strong, trained feet.
Playing Feel and Cushioning :
The Babolat Jet offers a direct 'low to the ground' playing feel, which makes the shoe very agile and fast. The seamless upper provides a lot of comfort, and the cushioning is also well taken care of.
Sustainability :
In terms of durability, the Babolat Jet is in the same range as the Nike Zoom Vapor 9.5 Tour , which means it's not the most durable tennis shoe on the market. But if you're looking for maximum lightweight speed and agility, and your feet are well-trained, the Babolat Jet is definitely a must-have!
The Jet is available in both an all-court and a clay sole.
