Babolat Jet tennis shoe
With a weight of only 295 grams, the Babolat Jet is currently one of the lightest tennis shoes on the market! Read more... Previously, shoes such as the Nike Zoom Vapor 9.5 Tour, the ASICS Gel Solution Speed 3 and the Mizuno Wave Exceed Tour were discussed here. Babolat is now also involved in this 'lightweight tennis violence' with the Jet. Later in this review we compare the Babolat Jet with the above-mentioned shoes. The Babolat Jet tennis shoe has a Matryx upper: a patented woven Kevlar upper with durable polyamide zones. This gives the shoe a soft, supportive feel, but also durability on the medial side of the upper. Active Flexion technology in the sole ensures that the forces are evenly distributed over the foot for maximum agility and feel with the surface. The Michelin S-pattern outsole provides good grip, wear resistance and contributes to agility. The weight of the Babolat Jet is only 295 grams (size 42.5)! The Babolat Jet has a medium last. However, the upper part of the shoe is fairly flexible and soft, which means that the shoe will flare slightly in width. This gives the feeling of a running shoe where the foot can move more naturally than in regular tennis shoes. However, this makes the lateral support of the shoe lighter than, for example, the ASICS Gel Solution Speed 3 or the Mizuno Wave Exceed Tour. This 'minimum feel' is reminiscent of the New Balance Minimus 60 we previously tested. I would recommend the Babolat Jet to someone who has somewhat strong, trained feet. The Jet has a direct 'low to the ground' playing feel, which makes the shoe very agile and fast. The seamless upper makes the shoe feel very comfortable, and the cushioning is also well provided. In terms of durability, the shoe is in the range of the Nike Zoom Vapor 9.5 Tour, which makes the Babolat Jet not the most durable tennis shoe on the market. However, are you looking for maximum (lightweight) speed and agility and do you have somewhat 'trained' feet? Then the Babolat Jet is absolutely recommended! The Jet is available in an all-court and clay sole.
