Babolat Pure Drive 2017/2018 offers better vibration damping for a more consistent playing feel and a redistribution of the 16/19 string pattern for more power and a larger sweet spot.
The new Babolat Pure Drive is now available in our webshop, including free stringing! Babolat rackets receive a new version every 3 years. It is the Pure Drive's turn for 2018. The most famous 300 gram version of this racket will be released at the beginning of September. In this blog all the ins and outs of this racket. The other models will follow in early 2018.

The Babolat Pure Drive 2018 remains with the same familiar specifications as
its predecessor, the Pure Drive 2015 . However, there are indeed a number of innovations in this racket.
Innovations and technology Babolat Pure Drive 2018
The Babolat Pure Drive 2018 remains with the same frame construction as its predecessors. The elliptical shape of the shaft ensures that the racket twists less quickly for optimal power. The material mix of graphite with tungsten (GT) provides extra stability during ball impact. Just like in the new
Babolat Pure Aero, the Woofer technology is now integrated into this frame. The strings do not lie flat in the frame, but rather over saddles/curves. The effect of this is improved interaction between ball and string for more head speed. This also makes stringing this new Pure Drive more pleasant. Babolat offers the biggest technological innovations in the Pure Drive series with Cortex Pure Feel and FSI Power.
Cortex Pure Feel
Babolat has joined forces with the also French SMAC for the new Pure Drive. SMAC is a major player in the aerospace industry. Cortex Pure Feel was created in collaboration with this company. Cortex Pure Feel is incorporated into the shaft of the racket. Cortex Pure Feel has a thin layer of visco-elastic rubber incorporated into the material mix of the shaft. This technology provides more vibration damping and therefore a purer and more consistent playing feeling.
This trend of optimal performance with less shock load on the body is also reflected in
Wilson with Countervail and
Head with Graphene Touch .
FSI Power
FSI Power is not new in itself: the new Babolat Pure Strike series also uses this technology. However, this is now being used for the first time in the Pure Drive series. The previous Pure Drive had the strings placed more compactly in the sweet spot for some extra control and connection with the ball. With the Babolat Pure Drive 2018, Babolat goes back to the roots of the Pure Drive as 'the power machine'.
The racket has the same 16/19 stringing pattern, but the strings are, as it were, pulled apart more. This provides more power and a larger sweet spot. The ball rotation also becomes a bit easier thanks to this FSI Power. This results in more power, even with off-center hits.
