Dunlop Srixon partnership:
As we reported earlier, Dunlop and Japanese Srixon have joined forces to create a premium racket collection for 2018. Dunlop uses Srixon's technical know-how for this. This partnership was already initiated last year around Wimbledon 2017, with Kevin Anderson's finalist position at the 2017 US Open as the highlight.
Technology Dunlop Srixon CV3.0:
The most important technologies in this racket listed. This racket has a so-called V-Energy II shaft. This shaft is more aerodynamic than a regular 'racket neck' and ensures that you can bring the racket through the ball very quickly (with less air resistance). Sonic Core Technology VG: a special rubber compound in the frame ensures less vibrations and a purer playing feel. The Straight String System ensures a straight alignment of the strings for an enlargement of the sweet spot. This gives more power and easy ball rotation.
Baseline:
The first thing that immediately struck me is that this Dunlop Srixon CV 3.0 plays very solidly from the baseline. Both under pressure and with aggressive play, this racket plays very consistently. The racket is easy to 'get around': the aerodynamic frame construction is clearly noticeable. The spin and slice of this racket are more than sufficient, but not as extreme as with a
Head Graphene Touch Extreme MP or
Babolat Pure Aero . This Dunlop CV 3.0, on the other hand, is more reliable on all shots.
Service:
The service power of this racket is more than sufficient, whereby my favorite slice service on the right went out of the court very pleasantly. Also the serving went very consistently with the Dunlop Srixon CV 3.0.
Just:
Although rackets with a slightly lower balance point (around 31.0) usually suit me better, the CV 3.0 is great material at the net. Especially hard balls are easy to parry and the racket is easy to maneuver. I personally had a bit more trouble with the touch volleys.
Power/control:
With this Dunlop CV 3.0 it is power above control. However, I find this racket offers more control than many other 100 sq/inch rackets. I personally found this to be very pleasant. In my opinion, this is because the racket feels so solid. The sweet spot is not small and even balls just outside it still come off the blade just fine. Dunlop 'gives' this racket a 9 for power and a 7.5 for control. I can fully agree with this.
Comfort/arm friendliness:
The CV 3.0 has a very nice dampening feel and does not punish you immediately with off-center hits. When I saw the final specs, RA value and technology of this frame after my playtest, I was surprised. The racket has a stiffness (RA) of 68, but does not feel that way. The Sonic Core Technology reminded me of, for example, the Wilson Blade 98 18x20 CV, where a part of the racket is filled with foam. This is also how this Dunlop Srixon CV 3.0 feels at ball impact.
Overall:
This Dunlop Srixon CV 3.0 is one of the finest rackets I have tested recently. The racket is wonderfully all-round with excellent power, stability and good damping properties. I personally love the matte black look of the demo, but the definitive black-yellow colour scheme is also great. A must-have demo! The Dunlop Srixon CV 3.0 will soon be available in our webshop!
