Enduraspin String Spray – Tested by Barend Hollenberg
We have a new blogger at Mijnracket.nl, and Barend, a fanatic tennis player and notorious string breaker, tested the Enduraspin string spray . Read his experience below!
Tester:
- Name : Barend Hollenberg
- Playing strength : 5/5
- Player type : Modern player, clay fanatic, lots of spin and power. His forehand is his weapon, and his backhand is for building up. Very frequent string breaker.
- Racket : Head Graphene Prestige MP (98 sq/inch, 18x20 stringing pattern)
- String hardness : 24/23 kg (stringing range 22-26 kg)
- Favorite string : Diadem Solstice Pro 16L
- Racket history : Including Head Graphene Speed MP and Babolat Pure Strike 18x20 . Recently switched to the Head Graphene Prestige MP.
Enduraspin test:
Barend tested the Enduraspin string spray with the previous version of the Babolat Pure Strike 18x20 . The spray was used once on worn strings and twice on newer strings, with the Diadem Elite XT 16L (1.25 mm).
Results:
-
Spin Potential : After applying the spray, it seemed easier to generate spin, especially with the older, worn strings. The spin was similar to a Diadem star string when it is new in the racket. As strings wear, they lose some spin potential due to their rounder shape. With the spray, the spin potential seemed to increase again, resulting in more control and grip on the ball.
With the newer strings the effect of the spray was less noticeable in terms of spin. It seems that the spray works especially when the strings have become a bit older and rounder.
-
Durability : The effect on durability was difficult to measure. It is possible that the optimized snapback of the strings – where the string springs back faster after impact – provides a slight increase in durability. This is because the friction between the strings decreases, which can reduce wear. However, this was not convincingly demonstrated during the test period.
-
Power : Barend did not notice a clear increase in power after using the spray. This might be more visible with a different racket and string combination, but in his case there was no significant difference to be noticed.
The Enduraspin string spray offers a clear improvement in spin potential, especially with older, worn strings. After spraying, the control over the ball feels better immediately. However, after about 20 minutes this effect started to decrease, which means that the spray must be reapplied regularly for optimum results.
In terms of increased durability and extra power, it did not become clear during this test that the spray had much effect in this. All in all, it is a useful spray to improve spin, but in terms of power and durability, the results are not convincing.
