RS All Court Black Edition Tennis Ball Review
Today we review a new tennis ball for the first time on mijnracket.nl: the RS All Court Black Edition by Robin Söderling . This ball is special because it is the first tennis ball designed by a former ATP champion.
Background of the RS All Court Black Edition
Two-time Roland Garros finalist Robin Söderling was asked what the best tennis ball he had ever played with was. To his own surprise, he couldn't answer. That gave him the idea to develop his own ball: the RS All Court Black Edition . According to Söderling, this ball had to excel in quality, durability, material and playing feel.
The RS All Court Black Edition is a gas-filled ball, suitable for all court types, and was used last month at the ATP tournament in Stockholm . We received a few cans of this new ball and have tested it extensively. Below you will find the findings of Mike, Stephan and Timo.
Test experiences
Mike's Review
"In terms of playing feel, the RS All Court Black Edition sits somewhere between the Wilson US Open and the Dunlop Fort Max TP . It combines the comfort of the Wilson US Open with the durability of the Dunlop Fort Max TP. The ball is quite comfortable on the arm, but still durable enough for intensive use.
What I also noticed is that the ball does not feel as light as for example a Wilson Tour Davis Cup , which often 'floats' a bit. The RS All Court Black Edition on the other hand offers good control and a predictable flight, even with hard hits or high speed."
Stephan's Review
"The RS All Court Black Edition feels a bit heavier than, for example, the Wilson US Open . The bounce is a bit lower, but that makes the ball all the more durable. Even with hard shots, the ball continues to respond well, without floating or overheating. It plays well and remains consistent, even during long sets."
Timo's Review
"This is a good match ball. It feels heavy and solid, which can take some getting used to, but once played in, the ball offers a great playing feel. It takes a little longer for the ball to play optimally, but the durability more than makes up for that."
The RS All Court Black Edition is designed with a great balance between feel, durability and comfort. It feels slightly heavier, which makes it very suitable for competitive use. The ball combines the best of the Wilson US Open and the Dunlop Fort Max TP , but still offers a unique playing feel with a lot of control and predictability.
