Intro:

After a long time of testing rackets, and many good stories about the Wilson Blade, I am completely sold, I bought 2 Blade 100 V9's. 1 strung with Alu Power Lime 1.25 on 24/23 kg and 1 strung with the Diadem Pro X 17 (1.20) on the same kilos.

Baseline:

From the baseline this racket is great! It has just a little more power than the Blade 98 16x19 and 18x20 V9 , which makes it even easier to hit the ball deep and the power comes more from the racket itself. Compared to its predecessor, the Blade 100 V8, this version is just a little more stable and even more user-friendly. And yet it continues to perform well under pressure, due to the stability of this racket. Due to the 100 sq/inch blade size, the sweet spot is just a little bigger than its heavier brothers, which makes the Blade 100 V9 more forgiving. However, this racket retains its steering/control well. Which is nice in combination with the power that comes from the frame itself. I am a baseline player myself in the singles, so I can keep the opponent under pressure from the baseline, without losing control. Super nice! I really like the spin that this racket offers. A year ago I hardly spun in my game and I was more of a hard banger of all balls. But this racket has taught me that it can be done differently. You can still finish balls well, by building up play and deep spin balls.

Service:

In the summer of 2023 I unfortunately suffered a shoulder injury due to overuse and with my previous racket that did not go well, especially during my service. I can hit a hard first serve and that comes out very well with the Blade 100 V9. Because it is so forgiving, I no longer have any problems with my shoulder, but I can still maintain the power in my serve. My second serve is not that strong, but in combination with the string (mainly the Pro X, because of its 6 corners) and the racket it can give it a good effect. By the way, my old racket is the Wilson Pro Staff 97L V12, the black frame with white at 3 and 9 o'clock in the blade. Wilson Blade 100 V9 tested

Just:

At the net this racket is super stable, and it certainly holds its own. Even when the balls hit hard. It is nice and manoeuvrable and you have good control at the net, because the racket is just a bit lighter than its bigger brothers from the Blade 98 series. From finishing volleys to smashes to stop volleys.

Power/control:

I love the combination of power and control with this racket. You can still deliver good hits from the baseline, without the racket transmitting vibrations. Even when the opponent increases the speed, the Wilson Blade 100 V9 remains super stable, which we were already used to from the previous versions of the Blade. But they keep coming back with new developments, which make the Blade series increasingly (re)fined. While maintaining the good combination of power and control. Wilson Blade 100 V9 tested

Comfort/arm friendliness:

As mentioned before, I had an injury to my right shoulder of my hitting arm. That's why I knew I had to switch to another racket. After testing many rackets, I had the least to no problems with this racket, because it is so stable, allows little vibration and is manoeuvrable. Of course, I also tested some counterparts of the Blade 100 V9, but I still found the comfort of this racket the best, without losing any game. The Blade 100 V9 is now available in our webshop, free of charge strung with a string of your choice!

Wilson Blade 100 V9 bottom line: final rating.

I have been testing different rackets for almost half a year, because I was getting rid of a rather stiff racket and did not want to make a choice too quickly. But when I played with the Wilson Blade 100 V9 for the first time, I was immediately sold. I really like the combination of power and control, I could immediately play deeper more easily. This racket has taught me to be more patient, by first spinning deeply before you want to finish the point. And the comfort that this racket offers, was also everything I was looking for. So in short: this racket is suitable for everyone (from beginners, who can handle the weight, to advanced players), who are looking for a racket that offers both power and control.
