Wilson Burn 100 CV tested

The brand new Wilson Burn 100 CV tested by team mijnracket.nl player Mike. This racket combines solid power from the baseline with good spin potential and a stable playing feel! The added Countervail material ensures less impact on and fatigue for the body.

Tested racket: Brand: Wilson Model: Burn 100 CV Head size: 100 sq/inch Weight: 300 gr Balance: 32.0 cm Stringing pattern: 16/19 Length: 27 inch RA: 69 Stringing: Diadem Elite XT 17 on 23/22 kg Tester: Name: Mike Playing strength: 4/4 Type of player: somewhat classic player, flat groundstrokes, generates little spin himself. Until recently had shoulder problems Player's racket history: Head Ti Fire, Babolat Pure Drive, Prince EXO3 Rebel Team, Wilson Steam 100 BLX2, Head Graphene Radical MP and the Prince Textreme Warrior 107. Recently also the Babolat Pure Strike 16/19 2017 in use. Innovations and technology: The Wilson Burn 100 CV is the successor to the Burn 100. CV in the new version stands for the added Countervail material. This material was recently introduced in the new Blade series , but is now also used in the new Burn racket family. Countervail provides an extra bit of shock absorption and therefore also less fatigue for the body. According to the Wilson PlayerID system, this racket is ideal for the baseliner. The X2 Ergo grip is slightly thickened at the top of the grip especially for players with a double-handed backhand. This does not concern the grip itself but the scales under the grip. These scales can be customized at wilson.com/x2ergo. When stringing the Wilson Burn 100 CV, note that tubing 10 from the heart of the racket is a double tubing. Both a length and cross string go through this.

Baseline: From the baseline, the Wilson Burn 100 CV plays very easily. The racket offers a good dose of power and is very easy to 'swing'. Especially with my backhand I could comb over the ball more easily than normal and therefore accelerate in a controlled manner. Another aspect that I noticed almost immediately is that the racket has also gained stability. As a result, the good dose of power can be controlled quite well. The Babolat Pure Aero is a racket that also falls into this genre. The Pure Aero offers comparable power and extra spin potential, where this Burn 100 CV offers a slightly more stable playing experience. The racket offers a slightly more comfortable playing experience than its predecessor, possibly due to the addition of the Countervail material. However, it remains a fairly stiff frame, so you should not have arm complaints to play comfortably with this racket. Service: When serving, I indeed noticed that this Wilson Burn 100 CV is a stiff frame. There is also enough power and acceleration in this racket when serving, but the racket was a bit spicy for my sensitive shoulder. The grip on the ball for slice and kick serves is nice and also adds a bit of extra margin and control.

Net: According to the Wilson PlayerID, the Wilson Burn 100 CV is a racket for the Baseliner. It is indeed true that this racket comes into its own from the baseline. However, the racket also performs well at the net and clearly better than its predecessor, the Burn 100. The lower balance point and swingweight ensure excellent maneuverability at the net and a relatively fast feel for a 'typical baseline racket'. Power/control: Plenty of power in this Wilson Burn 100 CV! However, you do need some body to play this spicy racket. The racket has also definitely gained control due to the extra stability. Comfort/arm friendliness: The Wilson Burn 100 CV is, so to speak, not a racket for someone who is sensitive on the arm or shoulder. The addition of Countervail does provide a bit of extra comfort and vibration damping compared to its predecessor, but this remains a relatively stiff racket. This is reflected in the RA value (stiffness) of 69. On the other hand, this is also the strength of the racket: a truckload of power in a racket with a solid feel.

General impression: This new Wilson Burn 100 (CV) has definitely improved! The racket retains its considerable power and good spin potential, but has gained stability and maneuverability. The addition of Countervail provides a little extra comfort. However, it remains a tough racket for which you need the necessary muscles. But do you have them? Then the racket is impressive, especially from the baseline! The new Wilson Burn 100 CV is now available in our webshop!
