Wilson Revolve Spin 16 tested

Barend tested the new pentagonal variant of the Wilson Revolve stringing. This Wilson Revolve Spin 16 is particularly lively and offers excellent tension retention.

    Setup and stringing:

Stringing this Wilson Revolve Spin goes smoothly. Threading the cross strings goes fine. It seems as if the string stretches slightly when it is pulled, but this does not seem to have a disadvantage, given the tension retention later in this review. The setup is 24 kg main and 23 kg cross string.

    Review Wilson Revolve Spin 16:

Comfort, power and ball rotation : When playing, you notice a big difference in vibration between optimally hitting the sweet spot and outside it. In the sweet spot, the string feels nice and comfortable, but outside it this is less. Most balls fly far due to the power content. Compared to the Diadem Elite XT 16L and the Solstice Pro 16L, this difference is big. The Wilson Revolve Spin 16 does not offer the expected spin potential, slightly more than a round string, but not impressive. The slice does feel nice, partly due to the higher power content you do not have to step into the ball excessively.

Tension retention, durability, control and ball feel

The tension retention of the Wilson Revolve Spin 16 is very good. It seems as if the string has a relatively high elasticity and retains this for at least the first 6-8 hours (the string has not been tested for longer). The durability is also very good. There are no significant grooves in the string from the burning in of the strings during the generation of spin. For the real string breaker this is a big advantage. The control of the string is average as well as the ball feel. This is just a bit too little for me as a player. The combination that I normally play with is completely control-oriented. For many other players the control will probably be more than sufficient.

    Conclusion

The Wilson Revolve Spin 16 has relatively little spin potential in contrast to what you would expect. In addition, it is a durable string, with a good dose of power and excellent tension retention. The Wilson Revolve Spin is a great string for the player without arm problems, who generates enough spin from the swing and is looking for durability, tension retention and a good dose of power.
