Intro:
Well before the planned release (January 2020), I was able to test the 'New EZONE 100 2020'. We received 2 demos from Yonex in a blacked-out color scheme. This does not concern the final cosmetics, but the final rackets themselves. Thanks to Yonex Benelux for the opportunity to do this! I previously tested the current EZONE 100, of which you can find a test report here . Stephan then tested the EZONE 98 and his current racket is the EZONE DR 98 310. Stephen also tested the New EZONE 98 for 2020. His findings will follow soon.
Baseline:
This Yonex New EZONE 100 plays great from the baseline! The racket provides a lot of free power and offers a very generous, forgiving sweet spot. In terms of feel, the racket somewhat goes back to the DR version, which in my opinion is a good thing. The racket therefore offers slightly more feeling than its predecessor. But perhaps the most striking are the comfort and stability of this new version. The racket feels very solid and hardly twists. Partly because of this, comfort has received a huge boost. This EZONE 100 2020 is one of the most comfortable rackets I have had the pleasure of testing this year: an absolute plus! Another nice thing about this update is the fact that the racket is not easily pushed away, even against hard hitters.
Power/control Yonex New EZONE 100 2020:
With this racket you get more power than control, but that was no surprise. The EZONE is certainly the most powerful and ease-of-play racket family at Yonex. And this 100 version at 300 grams makes a big difference in that regard. For a little more control, try the 98. Otherwise you will end up in the VCORE or VCORE Pro series from Yonex.
This EZONE 100 2020 offers a lot of power! Still, I didn't feel like the balls were flying off my racket blindly. The racket has a surprisingly solid playing feel. With some rackets in this weight class you sometimes have the feeling that you are being pushed away by an opponent who is hitting the balls hard. I certainly didn't have that with this EZONE 100. The racket just feels very stable.
Comfort/arm-friendliness:
This also brings us directly to the comfort of the racket. The EZONE 100 has always been a fairly comfortable choice, but now it definitely takes it a step further! The racket feels very torsionally stable. Add to this the generous sweet spot due to the 100 sq/inch head size in combination with the characteristic angled Isometric head shape and you have a very forgiving racket, especially in this genre of rackets. The comfort is fantastic! This Yonex New EZONE 100 2020 is one of the most comfortable rackets I have had the opportunity to test this year.
