As one of the first, mijnracket.nl brings a review of the new Babolat Pure Aero, the successor of the legendary Babolat Aeropro Drive. The Pure Aero offers more spin, more mass through the ball in a faster, more aerodynamic frame! Brand: Babolat
Model: Pure Aero
Blade size: 100 sq/inch
Weight: 300 gr
Balance: 32.0 cm
Stringing pattern: 16/19
Length: 27 inches
RA: 72 (unstrung), RA 69 strung
From now on, all Babolat racket lines start with Pure, such as the Pure Drive, Pure Strike and Pure Control. Following this, the Pure Aero is now also available. A new name, but the successor to the well-known Babolat Aeropro Drive . The Babolat Pure Aero retains the specs of the Aeropro Drive, so a 100 sq/inch blade, 300 grams (unstrung), a 32.0 balance and a 16/19 string pattern. However, the Pure Aero contains a lot of new things:
- The new Aeromodular 2 frame construction ensures even less air resistance and therefore faster swings
- The well-known Babolat Woofer technology (where the strings do not lie flat in the frame but on curves, making it easier to grip the ball in the strings) and the Active Cortex technology (built-in damping system that runs from the shaft to the grip) are now placed in the frame itself and no longer externally. This contributes to reduced air resistance
- FSI SPIN provides a larger sweet spot by redistributing the string bed and more interaction between frame and string. The effect is more ball rotation due to the extra grip on the ball and therefore more spin
- The new and wider tubings at 6 and 12 o'clock in the racket also contribute to more freedom of movement of the string and therefore more spin and a larger ideal hitting zone and therefore more comfort on off-center hits

Despite the same static weight (300 grams) and balance (32.0 cm) of the Babolat Pure Aero compared to the Aeropro Drive there is more mass behind the ball. This is due to a redistribution of the weight in the racket. More weight has been moved to the top and to the grip of the racket for more swingweight as it is so nicely called. The result is easier hitting of heavier topspin balls, a more stable feeling at ball impact and more comfort for the arm on off-center hits, because the racket twists less.
Compared to the Aeropro Drive, this makes the Babolat Pure Aero slightly less maneuverable, but more solid and powerful. The switch from defense to attack is very easy due to the extra mass of the racket. The 16/19 stringing pattern has remained the same, but the strings have been pulled apart more, as it were. This has 2 major advantages: the length string gets more freedom of movement for grabbing and releasing the ball. This extra 'snapback' ensures more acceleration and ball rotation. In addition, this gives more grip on the ball. These two aspects contribute to unprecedented topspin. This is further stimulated by the enlarged tubings at the bottom and top of the blade. This also gives the Babolat Pure Aero a somewhat softer feel and a bit more comfort. These properties of the racket are best expressed with a polyester string. An additional advantage is that polyester strings score high in terms of durability, which is also nice with this more pulled apart string bed.
T he new Babolat Pure Aero is a fine blend of power, control and spin. According to Babolat this is their best spinning machine ever! The Babolat Pure Aero is now available in our webshop! See here for an overview of the complete new Pure Aero racket line .
