The new Yonex Percept 2023 racket series will be released soon. This series will succeed the VCORE Pro series and, in addition to a number of interesting technologies, also contains an interesting line-up if you ask us!
Intro:
Yonex has 4 racket families, of which the EZONE is the best known and most important for the Japanese brand. The 'Easy One' stands for ease of playing and power. In addition, Yonex recently updated the VCORE series. The VCOREs stand for spin. The Astrel series is the most comfortable and arm-friendly series that Yonex offers. Finally, the VCORE Pro series, which Wawrinka and Tiafoe, among others, play with. The VCORE Pro series is all about control. Because VCORE (spin) and VCORE Pro (control) often cause confusion, Yonex will now rename the VCORE Pro series to PERCEPT. And that's what this article is all about.
Yonex PERCEPT 2023 models and release:
The official release of the PERCEPT will take place around the 2023 US Open. This means that the new rackets will be available around that time. Naturally, we hope to test and review a number of them soon. Broadly speaking, the specs remain the same as those of the current VCORE Pro series: a 97H of 330 grams, a regular 97 of 310 grams and a lighter 97L of 290 grams. All with a 16x19 stringing pattern. There will also be a 97D at 320 grams with an 18x20 stringing pattern. New is a 100D at 305 grams with an 18x19 stringing pattern, a very interesting frame in the line of the new Tecnifibre T-Fight 305 Isoflex. A regular 100 and 100L complete the line-up, along with a take-down (not Japan, but China frame) in the form of the PERCEPT Game. Below are all models with the known specs. The RA/stiffness is not yet known for all models, but appears to have been slightly increased for a number of models, for slightly more power but also more stability.

Technology Yonex PERCEPT 2023:
In a number of models, the buttery soft RA (which the old VCORE Pro series had) is slightly increased to give the rackets a little more stability and power. In addition, Yonex uses a number of new technologies for the PERCEPT series. Servo Filter provides 'selective vibration damping'. This film layer is placed between the graphite layers and provides more flex at ball impact and filters unwanted vibrations, 13% more than rackets without Servo Filter. All this provides more ball feeling and finer control over the ball. 2G-Namd Flex Force together with this filter around the heart of the racket also provides more 'ball pocketing', which improves spin and control. Finally, the head of the PERCEPT rackets itself is slightly stiffened for 3% more head stability. This should also give a little more power. Nice but also quite clinical technological terms, but it all seems to give a clearly improved playing feeling. We will soon put a number of models through the test for you!
