Best rackets for spin

Our current favorite rackets for spin are listed below. Some familiar names, but also a few surprises. Click on the links for the full reviews of these rackets. Here are our best rackets for spin :

Babolat Pure Aero

No list of rackets for spin would be complete without the Babolat Pure Aero. The Aero series was the first racket series fully geared towards maximum ball rotation. None other than Rafael Nadal is the figurehead of this series. This latest update of the Pure Aero offers improved stability and vibration dampening and in terms of feel goes back somewhat to the legendary Aeropro Drive. Read our extensive review of the Pure Aero here .

Head Graphene 360 Extreme MP

Another absolute spin monster is the Head Graphene 360 Extreme MP. The strings have been stretched even further in this update of the Extreme series. Special grommets at 12 o'clock provide extra freedom of movement and snapback of the main strings and that is noticeable! Read our review of the Extreme MP and the heavier Extreme Pro here .

Diadem Nova FS 100

The innovative American Diadem comes with a rock-solid update of the Nova series. This series, made for power and spin, gains stability and touch through the new Flex Stabilization technology. One of the most comfortable rackets in this genre, without compromising on feedback. Fully filled frame with internal rib structure and high density foam. Read our full review of the Diadem Nova FS 100 here .

Wilson Clash 100

The Wilson Clash 100 and 100 Tour combine an insanely low RA value with a stable and powerful frame. This low RA gives a so-called longer dwell time for more ball pocketing. In addition to comfort, this also certainly benefits the ball rotation. Excellent mix of power, comfort and spin.

Head Graphene 360+ Gravity MP

The Head Graphene 360+ Gravity series is made with the modern player in mind. What appears is that this group takes the ball a bit higher in the blade and (perhaps less surprisingly) operates with a lot of spin. The blade of the Gravity rackets is a bit wider higher in the blade. This promotes gripping the ball, also for players with more extreme (deep) grips. Read our review of the Gravity MP here .

Prince Textreme 2.5 Phantom 100X

Not the most typical spin racket in this list, but a very nice one! This racket is more control oriented and has a nice slim beam. The low RA value of 58 ensures very easy ball pocketing. This combined with an open 16x18 stringing pattern gives nice, controlled spin. This review is still in the making.

Dunlop SX 300

The SX 300 from Dunlop offers surprising stability for a 300 gram racket. In addition, the racket also offers good damping, which is however somewhat at the expense of the direct playing feel. Dunlop has used special different grommet shapes at 12 o'clock for extra snapback of the main strings for spin. Our extensive review will follow soon; the first test hours before the Corona outbreak were pleasant in any case.

Yonex VCORE 100

The VCORE series from Yonex is completely tuned to spin. Special Aerofins ensure less air resistance for more rackethead speed. This makes the frame lightning fast. The 100 sq/inch blade together with a fairly open 16x19 string pattern and a nice spin string do the rest! Read more about the VCORE 100 here .

Wilson Ultra 100 V3.0

The Wilson Ultra 100 V3.0 offers a lot of playability, as well as free power and easy access to spin. It is not the racket with the most ball feel, but the ease of use makes up for that to a large extent. Read our test here .

Prince Textreme Phantom Pro 93P 14x18

Are you looking for extra spin and control? Then it's almost cheating with this Prince Textreme Phantom Pro 93P 14x18. This version of the ultra-thin Phantom Pro 93P has an extremely open 14x18 string pattern. This is immediately noticeable in a different launch angle and higher ball path, even if you generate little spin yourself or do not have such a deep grip. The slim frame does the rest and cuts through the air with playful ease. However, an absolutely low-powered racket this Phantom Pro 93P 14x18 , so you will have to bring the power yourself.

Strings for spider

Of course, strings play a vital role in getting more ball spin. Here are some of our favorite strings for spin:

  • Babolat RPM Blast : A bestseller with an 8-sided shape and silicone coating for extra snapback, resulting in improved rotation.

  • Diadem Solstice and Elite XT : The Diadem Solstice is one of the most comfortable strings in the spin genre, with a distinctive star-shaped construction for ultimate ball bite. The Elite XT is more focused on control. Both strings are available in a test package with the Flash .

  • Wilson Revolve : A round co-poly string where the length strings slide easily over the cross strings for added snapback, resulting in more rotation.

  • Dunlop Explosive Spin : A newcomer with a 6-sided construction. Not extremely sharp, but offers controlled spin.

  • Yonex Poly Tour Strike : This string has a smooth character and is used for all our Yonex VCORE demo rackets. The string slides easily out of position and quickly springs back for extra rotation.

  • Babolat RPM Blast Rough : This is the RPM Blast with notches. Smoother than the original RPM Blast, offers a lot of bite, but less extreme rotation than the regular version.

These strings are all suitable for players looking for more spin and control in their playing.
