Introduction:
For the sake of completeness: Dunlop’s performance rackets are divided into 3 racket families: the FX, CX and SX series. All these rackets are Dunlop frames featuring Srixon technology. We’re often asked what each racket series stands for. The FX series used to be called the Force series (hence the F) and is all about power. The C in CX stands for Control, and the S in the SX series stands for Spin. All rackets in these lines feature Sonic Core technology (made with Infinergy by BASF). This material in the racket frame improves stability and reduces harmful vibrations. It’s something of a signature technology for Dunlop.

Baseline:
The first time I tested the new SX 300 2025, we did a drill during training (one of our last sessions on clay) where we had to hit short cross-court shots with spin off the court. First from the service box, then from three-quarter court, and finally from the baseline. This racket was an immediate hit. It generates spin so easily! Fortunately, it also retains its feel and doesn’t become too bouncy. In terms of spin, this racket is a joy to play with and is every bit as good as a Babolat Pure Aero or Head Extreme MP! Another standout feature is its speed: you can generate racket-head speed very easily. Combined with the easy spin you can produce by simply brushing lightly over the ball, this makes the racket a spin monster. Naturally, it’s ideal for players who want to dominate and apply pressure from the baseline.
That said, this racket also holds its own under pressure when defending. It’s very quick to get into position. During that same session on clay, I faced several hard returns aimed at my feet, deep near the baseline. If you quickly brush across the ball with the racket, you can handle these shots with ease. The previous SX 300 wasn’t like this, but the 2019 version was rather unwieldy in that respect. It had a very high swingweight and made it easy to hit a powerful ball, but it was difficult to swing quickly. That’s definitely a plus for both the 2022 version and the new 2025 model.

Serve:
As mentioned above, this racket makes it easy to generate racket-head speed, so it’s easy to hit a powerful serve. But that’s also ideal for kick and slice serves, of course. I found kick serves especially easy with this racket, allowing you to put your opponent under pressure right away. I found the serving power itself to be slightly above average, but I couldn’t generate as much power as, for example, with the Head Gravity Tour 2025, which I tested recently.
Net:
At the net, this racket feels particularly solid against hard-hit incoming balls. They’re easy to handle steadily and without jarring impact. I did miss a little finesse on touch volleys, but otherwise the racket feels nice and solid at the net.

Power/control Dunlop SX 300 2025:
With this racket, power clearly takes priority over control. For control, Dunlop’s traditionally designed CX series frames are the way to go. The SX 300 2025 makes it easy to hit a powerful, penetrating ball, especially if you hold the racket a little lower down the grip. With this racket, you can really dictate play with ease, dominating with heavy spin. If you use a more traditional (flatter) grip, I’m not sure this is quite the racket for you. You’ll need to add some spin to keep a safe margin over the net and therefore maintain control of your shots. Otherwise, this racket can send the ball long quite easily. All in all, though, it gives you a nice boost of free power, but you do need some spin to maintain control.
Comfort/arm-friendliness:
I thought comfort was once again well taken care of in this version of the SX 300. I only felt a few more vibrations when hitting balls high in the string bed. Otherwise, it’s one of the more comfortable rackets in this spin category. A Babolat Pure Aero feels a little harsher, while a Head Extreme MP feels even more powerful. So, comfort is above average!

Dunlop SX 300 2025: the bottom line
The SX 300 2025 retains its predecessor’s fast, powerful feel and heavy spin. Thankfully, its swingweight is comparable, making it easy to generate racket-head speed. A very welcome bonus is the racket’s excellent comfort, something many competing brands’ rackets in this spin/power category often lack. All in all, the Dunlop SX 300 2025 is a fast weapon for dominating with spin from the baseline, with excellent comfort as a welcome bonus! A great update.
